About me

I'm doing my dream job.

The "Useless" Skill

Did you ever have a random skill that was unreasonable and mostly useless? That was lyric

memorization for me. I bugged my family for endless hours on road trips with easily 60%

accuracy (haha). I was a rapper for my church when I was a kid, and later, I sang to the

soldiers in my barracks when I was in the Army. I joined my first screamo band when I was

16, moved into the band house at 17, Houston when I was 18 and bounced from metal band to metal band here for a while.

Eventually, I stumbled into the cover industry, and suddenly that unreasonable skill wasn't

so useless anymore. In fact, it became the compass to finding my purpose and my

happiness.

The Purpose & The Stages

I believe music is the last bit of magic we have left on earth. A family-friendly event where

a kid sees a musician playing live for the first time—that moment is priceless. So is the

happy, drunk crying at your reception on your wedding day, or connecting with a stranger

at a bar when you both know the lyrics, taking in the moment the chug hits, and letting go

of everything else in life. Priceless.

Since 2012, that magic has taken me across the country on independent national tours and

put me on some incredible stages. From multiple performances for the

Houston Dynamo (MLS) to headlining the Foundation Room at House of Blues Houston,

playing premier listening rooms like Dosey Doe, and performing on Season Three of

Unplugged at Discovery Green—I find happiness on this journey every single day.

The Originals & The Eventuals

They say you need balance in life. I learn and play covers while I continue my journey

writing original music. The cover/mashup side of me poured into my original music at some

point, and I fancy myself a multi-genre listen. There are influences of metal, folk, rap, pop,

lofi, acoustic, and some other stuff too (labels are made up anyway, lol).

That original sound is brought to life by lifelong collaborators like JP Lee, Chris Goodwin, Elliott Thirsk, Chelsea Beech, Heather Rayleen, Josh David Walker, Erik Paul, Rickey Getwood, Tim Del Toro, and Gustaff Arias. They are the best of the best and that's not up for debate! When fully assembled we are The Eventuals and capable of anything.

I aspire to fill stadiums, airwaves, and moments frozen in time. If you found

your way here after falling in love with an original like "Be True" or "In My Head", the

best way to help me get there is simply to share a song with someone.

In The Press & On The Air

AJ’s impact on the local scene has not gone unnoticed by the media. Hailed as a "local

favorite bringing dynamic live entertainment" by The Woodlands Community Impact, his

music has also hit the airwaves across the region. He has been featured for exclusive live

studio sessions and interviews on The Houston Collective (KPFT 90.1FM), Lone Star

Community Radio, Houston FM Sports Radio, One Fifty Media House, and the legendary

Outlaw Dave Show, where Dave personally championed AJ's community-driven Murder of

Crows festival.

The Business & The Community

Who knew there would be this much business to music? But I kinda love that part, too. On a

day-to-day basis, I am a one-man team. The website, graphics, contracts, billing, videos,

photography, editing, distribution, coordinating musicians, vendors, live sound and lights, ads—you name it. I take

immense pride in my brand and my clientele.

I also take immense pride in my community. It’s important to me to use this platform to give

back and elevate others. To that end, I founded and organized Murder of Crows—a free

mini-festival series executed eight times to support and showcase over 30 local artists and

small-business vendors at each event. Hosted at iconic Houston stages including

Rockefellers, The Raven Tower, Concert Pub North, and Humble Backyard, the festival

became a true staple of the local arts scene. Alongside my own festival, I consistently

perform for philanthropic and cultural events, including the National Make Music Day

Organization, the Tomball Memorial Athletic Booster Club Fundraiser, the National

Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), and City of Sugar Land benefit events.

I'm a simple guy who loves what he does and won't hesitate to go above and beyond to give

you the best entertainment for your event. Thank you for finding my website, listening, and

considering my services.

Musically,

AJ
